Tips on Packing and Storing Perishables in Commercial Fridges

Food whether it be vegetable, meat, fruit or leftovers surely will get spoilt and rotten if kept out for a long time without storage. Especially in restaurants where large amount of food in produced and procured, packing and storing becomes an essential part of conducting the business.

Store greens in paper bags

Green leafy vegetables like spinach and lettuce can be packed in paper bags and stored in a cool part of the commercial refrigerator to prevent decay. These greens produce gases, which are natural and helps in maintaining the freshness of the ingredient. Wrapping these greens tightly also helps in maintaining the nutrients and quality.

Avoid washing fruits and vegetables

Fresh fruits and vegetables which have been delivered should be kept in the vegetable and fruit drawer space which is provided in the refrigerator. These should also be kept away from the fan and at a lower surface to avoid damage on the skin. Also, one should never wash the fruits and vegetables before they can be actually used. If you wash the fruits and store them in the fridge, they tend to become extremely moist and may lose their texture. So, always wash the vegetables and fruits just before you want to cut them.

Commercial Juicers

Carrots are full of beta carotene, which is the primary compound that our body converts to Vitamin A. Vitamin A is necessary for our eyes and skin. Plus, the low number of calories contained in carrot juice makes it an ideal diet drink for those on a calorie watch.
