Tips for Buying Men’s Dress Shoes

The leather industry estimates that each of us walks the equivalent of twice around the world in the course of a lifetime. No wonder shoes are of importance to humans. An old proverb, cautioning not to criticize a man until we have walked a mile in his shoes, expresses the prime importance of shoes. Men’s dress shoes can make or break your appearance completely.

Types of men’s dress shoes

Your choice of leather shoes depends on three important aspects

Type – Tie or slip-ons

Toe – Plain, moccasin or wing tip

Sole – Thin or thick, leather or rubber

Men’s shoes like loafers or stylish dress shoes contain very little padding for the feet. You can add padding to these shoes with a cushioned insert.  Drug stores, sporting goods and some fashion boutique carry different brands of cushioned inserts.  Select those that are designed for dress shoes.

Inserts are of different grades; choose one made of synthetic rubber, which will hold up over time. The most conservative business shoe is the tied shoe; however, loafers are acceptable in all formal occasions. Slip-ons and tassel loafers are versatile business shoe lace-ups and wing-tips are heavier and more formal.

There are many fancy names used to describe men’s dress shoes that are meant to be worn with a suit. To keep it simple, they are – plain/decorated/perforated oxford lace-up, the buckled monk-strap, and the dress slip-on (with buckle or tassels).

Black dress or a cocktail dress is one of the most popular party dress.
